Farmers and the internet

BBC Radio Four’s Farming Today spoke to Jo Broomfield and Emily Ball from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Delivery Programme about the new online application and payment service being developed and what it means for CAP customers. This is part of their feature on “Farmers and the Internet” which explores examples of both those already actively using online services and trading to grow their business and those who are not currently online due to poor broadband connections or lack of skills.

The piece emphasises that the new service is being developed with customers in mind and is designed to be intuitive. Jo acknowledges the challenge that poor connectivity brings and offers some reassurance that Defra is working on practical solutions to help farmers to get online, and stresses that data security is at the forefront of the programme's planning.
